For our patient’s that suffer from age-related near vision loss, The Raindrop Near Vision Inlay is now available in the Tri-state exclusively at The Vision Care Center.
The Raindrop® Near Vision Inlay is designed to improve near vision so you can once again see fine print, menus and your phone without the hassle of reading glasses. Raindrop offers a a safe way to treat age related near vision loss, or presbyopia. Presbyopia is a condition that causes your eye to lose the ability to change focus from distant to near objects. It is a natural part of aging that most people begin to experience after age 40.
Raindrop is the world’s first inlay to change the shape of the cornea (the clear, front part of the eye) to improve near vision. Raindrop is incredibly small – about the size of a pinhead and less than half the thickness of a human hair – and is bioengineered to mimic the natural cornea. The outpatient procedure takes about 10-minutes and patients go back to most of their daily activities the next day.

Tired of the hassle with readers?
As you age, your ability to see up close slowly declines. Most people over 40
experience age-related loss of near vision.
When you can’t read the texts on your phone or fine print in general, you turn to your readers.
All day long, they’re on and off. On and off. A pair next to your computer and one in your purse or pocket. A daily routine of frustrating repetition.

What is Raindrop?
Raindrop is a small, transparent disc called an inlay. It’s made of ~80% water and from similar material to a soft contact lens. The inlay itself is the size of a pinhead and half the thickness of a human hair.
What does it do?
Raindrop improves your near and intermediate* vision quickly and simply. It is designed to reduce your need for readers, and patients typically see results in 1 week.
* Intermediate vision (computer vision) was measured in the clinical study, but it was not a study endpoint.
How does it work?
The Raindrop® Near Vision Inlay is placed just below the surface of the eye during a 10-minute procedure. Raindrop helps to reshape the front of your eye so that you can see up close again.
How long does it last?
Raindrop is intended to be a long-term solution for near vision improvement. If for any reason you need it taken out, it can be easily removed by your doctor.
Raindrop Near Vision Inlay benefits
Raindrop is made of a soft, biocompatible material similar to a soft contact lens, which has similar properties and water content as the cornea. It gently changes the shape of the clear front part of the eye, the cornea. It improves near vision while slightly affecting distance vision in the treated eye.
- Transparent, so no one will realize there is a Raindrop in your eye
- Well suited for dim light situations as 99.7% of the light passes through the Raindrop and reaches the back of the eye where the image is processed1
- Approximately 80 percent water, Raindrop resembles a tiny water droplet
- Bioengineered to facilitate the transport of nutrients and fluid to the eye
- Incredibly small – less than half the thickness of a human hair and about the size of a pinhead.
Is there follow-up care?
Raindrop allows you to resume normal activities such as driving and reading the very next day. Your doctor will prescribe simple follow-up care.
